The Hook and Sink ‘Em
While attending Baylor University as an undergrad, I watched as design brought something out of me. I had always loved school but had never felt this kind of passion toward a learning path and had been too afraid to try. As a sophomore I signed up for a few art classes with a shaky hand and an anxious spirit. I was hooked.
Creative exercises and studio classes all around me and I was reeling. For the remaining three (and a half…) years of college I spent most, or what felt like all, of my time in Hooper-Schafer Fine Art Building (the phantom building at the back of campus that business kids don’t even know about, poor guys) working around the clock to meet my impending deadlines. Late nights of coffee, loud music, the hum of the printer (inevitably causing grief with flashing “ink low” and “error” signs) and x-acto knives, which probably isn’t the best mix but it got the job done. The act of creating with my own mind, and with my own hands, was so thrilling for me that I knew this must be the world I belonged in.
The Here and Now
Creative lifestyles can give something to us all. I love to feel challenged, and hope to continually build relationships with people by combining the creative and the human moments in life. I am currently employed with the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, where I have the opportunity to work on a variety of digital and printed promotional projects from signs, posters and invitations to brochures and magazines. Waco, TX has a lot to offer!
